Date: Edo era, the 1700~1800s.

Old bronze Buddha statue "Eleven-faced Senju Kannon".
Senju means thousand arm.
Since it is difficult to portray one thousand arms, images usually show Senju with two principle arms in gasshou-in (Sk: anjali mudra) in front of his chest and 40 arms, holding attributes and forming mudra, on the sides.
This number can be justified because each hand saves the beings of 25 worlds, and 40 times the 25 equals 1000...

This is the two pieces of the twelve guardian gods of Yakushi Nyorai.
According to Yakushi Nyorai's great desire of 12, when each God is 12 of day and night, the moon of 12 or the direction of 12 is protected.
Therefore, the twelve zodiacal signs are allotted.

As for this God, it is guessed for one of the two that "Basara General God(Vajira) and another are "Anila General God(Anila).
Dating from later Muromachi period(1392-1573), 16th century...

This beautiful small Buddha(Syakamuni)seated is made from white porcelain by Suwa Sozan the First(1852-1922).

Suwa Sozan came from a military family.
He worked in porcelain, first in Tokyo in 1875; from 1879 to 1900 he worked in Ishikawa-ken, then moved to Kyoto, where he worked with Kinkozan until 1906, when he set up his own workshop in Gojozaka.
He seems to have specialized in ceramic carving and in the making of celadon.
He was made an Imperial Artist in 1917.
