It is an excellent piece of Satsuma manufactured in Kyoto near Awataguchi at the Meiji term.
Its rectangular form set on four bracket feet and decorated in enameling and gilt on a clear crackle glaze with four panels of figures in a pavilion rest beside placid lake, a high ranking courtesan (oiran), songbirds perches on a gnarled plum blossom tree, and a mother with children washing kimonos.
