Date: Edo era, the 1700~1800s.

Old bronze Buddha statue "Eleven-faced Senju Kannon".
Senju means thousand arm.
Since it is difficult to portray one thousand arms, images usually show Senju with two principle arms in gasshou-in (Sk: anjali mudra) in front of his chest and 40 arms, holding attributes and forming mudra, on the sides.
This number can be justified because each hand saves the beings of 25 worlds, and 40 times the 25 equals 1000...

Japanese Bizen ware Chaire or tea caddy with a ivory lid by "Mori Touraku-an" .

Date: Meiji era, early 20th century.

"Katatsuki" has pronounced shoulders near the neck.
"Chaire" is a tea caddy, usually ceramic, used to hold strong tea at a tea ceremony.

Mori Touraku-an is one of the most famous pottery producer in Bizen(Okayama prefecture), and one of the "Kamamoto Roku Sei".
There are six great major pottery producer at Bizen ware.

The 4th generation Kiyomizu Rokubei(1848-1920)work.

The kyo-yaki earthenware bowl is called "mukouzuke" which is a side dish(not rice or soup) at a Japanese style banquet.

Kiyomizu Rokubei is one of the head families of Kyoto ceramic ware.
The first generation Kiyomizu Rokubei is started to Kyoto Gojo-zaka in the second half of Edo.
A style is left to each family heads' creativity...

It has a butterfly, Mt.Fuji view and variously beautiful flowers pattern.

Very lovely unsigned small jar is decorated in cloisonne with wires (Yusen shippo).
It has beautiful design of the butterfly and flower motif.

The shape and design of this jar that reminds one of the Namikawa Yasuyuki which is a maestro of the Kyo cloisonne with wires(Yusen shippo).
A butterfly is often used for his work as a motif.
It is said that it is related to the family crest of the Namikawa family being a butterfly...

Lovely small cloisonne vase in Meiji period.

This cloisonne vase with wires, called "Ginsen(silver line) shippo".
The cloisonne with silver wires is imparting a luxurious touch rather than the cloisonne with brass wires.

A pair of the vase are decorated with gold fish and flower of Fuji(Japanese wisteria).
The gradation of blue color of the body is so beautiful.

A maker's mark "bell" is chiseled on the base, it is a mark of Ota cloisonne in Owari.
