| This is Satsuma buttons made at the end of shogunate(Edo period). An article an enthusiast would drool over. It exported to foreign countries making the button of porcelain with the order kiln of the clan based on the knowhow cultivated by the Satsuma porcelain so that Satsuma Domain at the end of Edo might produce war funds to oppose the shogunate. It descended and it had and the concern for "Japonizumu" (Japanese culture) rose in Europe, and the button made of porcelain that small to which the essence of a Japanese painting was condensed was called by the pet name of "SATSUMA", and collected serious popularity. It depicted a "Daikokuten" and "Ebisu" by gold color. Each Gods are one of the Seven Deities of Good Fortune. Daikokuten is generally famous as a god of luck. He is most familiar in Japan as a fat, smiling figure with a big sack over his left shoulder and a mallet in his right hand, standing on bales tawara full of rice. He was particularly popular in the Edo period. Ebisu is regarded as the tutelary deity of all occupations, but especially of fishing, farming and commerce. The main attributes of Ebisu are his fishing rod, held in his right hand or over his right shoulder, and a freshly caught, large red snapper or sea bream (tai, a symbol of good fortune) under his left arm. He is a plump figure with a broadly grinning face, usually shown sitting on a rock. He may wear a kimono and divided skirt "hakama", or "sashinuki", a type of Heian period hakama gathered in at the ankles, or sometimes "kariginu", the ancient hunting robes which became the ordinary apparel of Heian period courtiers. On his head, he wears a tall, pointed cap folded in the middle called kazaori eboshi. His happy expression and attributes of prosperity make him a popular god among merchants. Ebisu is frequently paired with the god Daikokuten, who is also one of the Seven Gods of Good Fortune. The condition is excellent. Please make to accessories(a necklace, ring and cuff links etc.), use for the hair ornament, and enjoy the beauty of Japan by your idea. 2cm Diameter. | |||||||||
