Special Cloisonne Vase for Presentation to Imperial

A beautiful and elegant Japanese cloisonne pale blue vase decorated in "Musen Shippo(wireless technique)" with three goldfish swimming and water weed, painted in underglaze red, black, and gold and lightly gray with water weeds.

The excellent work which made full use of the technology of wireless cloisonne(Musen-shippo).

Originally, cloisonne is made a division by a line, and glassy glaze pours in it, and it become fixed to firing.
However, wireless cloisonne is the difficult work since removing the line on the way of the process.
Therefore, the softness depended for fading and the color by delicate mixture of glaze which are not in wire cloisonne(Yusen-shippo)is admired.

Only the part of the eye of these three goldfishes is decorated with "Yusen Shippo(wire technique)".
The rim is pure silver.

This vase is produced by Ando Shippo Studio which famous for high-class cloisonne ware.
Usually, a bottom has original Ando mark.
However, this cloisonne vase is not sign.

Originally, in a sword or an artistic handicraft article, when a its original work article was presented to Imperial Household and it delivered, there was a custom of not carving or seal the sign "to withhold."
Therefore, It is an unsigned.

The vase is made ​​using a highly skilled technique especially in splendid cloisonne technique.
It comes with decoration stand with rosewood made.

The condition is excellent. No chip, no crack and no restoration.

Dating from Meiji(1868-1912)period.
It comes with gorgeous original wooden kiri-box, Tomobako.
Interior has soft and rich silk ground.
The special Tomobako was made for only Imperial Household.

Measurements about : 17.5cm(6.88")Body Diameter, 18.7cm(7.36")Tall.
