The Negoro Lacquer is the lacquer ware of red lacquered produced in Japan medieval times.
Black Japanese lacquer is undercoating to a ground and two coats of red lacquer is given on it.
Red lacquer is gradually worn out with progress of years, and black Japanese lacquer appears from the underneath.
By producing the natural effect by years, worth of a work becomes high.
Moreover, the Negoro Lacquer ware has many works which devoted in practical use, and simple and clear modeling beauty is modern.
The Negoro Lacquer ware is possessed by Birmingham Museum of Art in the United States and Alabama.
This work is the "Bon(tray)" made from "Honda Seishien" of Nara Prefecture.
Since there are three legs, it is called a "San-soku Bon".
It is a work of Masato Honda famous as a artist of Nara lacquer ware.
Signed artist name "Honda Masato" on the backside of the tray and Tomobako.
