| It is wonderful Japanese Taisho artisan work. Very Rare wooden jewelry box. The wooden box is decorated with inlay on silver surface and Japanese artistic handicraft "AJIRO". AJIRO is plaited wicker work made of strips of bamboo sheathing, thin strips of cryptomeria, dith reed, or cypress etc. It is usually plaited diagonally, producing a diamond shaped pattern, but also may be moven in vertical-horizontal patterns. This pattern is used especially in tea ceremony houses for the ceiling, doors, or wall coverings, and for garden fences. This box is covered beautiful AJIRO, even decorated inlay on the pure silver lid and side of a box. Interior has velvet cloth of elegant dark blue color. Designing of inlay are chrysanthemums, a peony, a little bird and Japanese yard scenery. It is in harmony with AJIRO design. The size of box: 6"D X 9"W X 4.4H. THe condition of jewelry box is excellent, no chip, no crack, and almost none scratch. It came with tiny key, is just right for the box. The lid in the state of a little opening if the key to the box is not closed. Dating from Taisho, 1912-1926. | ||||||||||||
