| It is luxurious Japanese Makie Tanzaku Box. Box is done with wonderful workmanship of Nashiji, it's stately and elegant. We just admire the designers of old time. It is most unusual Japanese Makie Tanzaku box. The gold work are done in Takamakie, the design of Cranes, Pine Tree, Turtles, Bamboo Grass. These are very auspicious picture in Japanese. The fine detail work of all which my photo can not show the details. Tanzaku is Haiku(a Japanese poem consisting of seventeen syllables) card which were used as writing Haiku when poet got together. Today, you will be able to use treasure box, and decoration also. The condition of box excellent except nothing a little wear spot at inside corner(last photo show). It was repaired in the past. Other than that box is excellent condition. The size of box: 15.6"L X 3.7"W X 3.2"H. Dating from late Edo 1850-1860. | |
