A pretty, large-size Art Nouveau 18K gold and enamel floral pin and pendant in the form of a violet. The petals are elegantly enameled in opaque white and shades of violet. In the Victorian language of flowers, a white violet symbolized candor and innocence, while a purple violet meat modesty. Perhaps this piece was intended to convey a mix of meanings. The flower is centered with an old mine cut diamond, graded as I/J, SI1. The back of the pin retains the original clasp and pinstem. There is also an original loop to the pin can be worn as a pendant. Tested and guaranteed 18K.
