A fabulous figural 14K yellow gold and platinum ring in the form of a thistle blossom. The ring is beautifully made with excellent detail. The shank is engraved to look like a woody stem, curling around toward the crown before sprouting veined leaves that flank the blossom. The bell-shaped flower is centered with a round brilliant-cut diamond. One of the leaves is accented with another diamond, perhaps representing a dewdrop, in a platinum prong setting. The ring is quite heavy and shows the highest level of workmanship. The shank is marked “14K” and “PLT”. Origin: America, ca. 1940. Condition: excellent, sharp detail, all original. Ring Size: 9-1/4. Size: crown, 5/8” wide x 1/2" high. Weight: 9.0 grams. Approximate Total Diamond Weight: .22 carat. |
