A magnificent 18K yellow gold necklace designed as a pair of foxtail chains punctuated with floral plaques suspending foxtail tassels, each terminating in a ball. The sections of chain between the plaques are swagged “en esclavage”—an especially elegant treatment reminiscent of French jewels of the First Empire. The central plaque is decorated with applied gold forget-me-nots, while those on the sides are left plain. This necklace is from one of the finest gold suites from the late Belle Epoque that we’ve seen. All pieces are hallmarked with French “tete d’aigle” hallmarks for 18K gold and also with an unidentified maker’s mark, “LM”.
