A fine five-piece cruet in shaded rose-to-clear cut glass. The set comprises salt and pepper shakers, oil and vinegar bottles, and a mustard jar. The pattern of cutting emphasizes large star motifs flanked by strawberry diamonds. The crystal is of fine quality and has beautiful coloring in a soft pinkish-rose shade. Each of the bottles is finished with a clear lapidary-cut stopper and the shakers and jar are finished with silver-plated fittings. The color and style of cutting suggest that the set was made by Stevens & Williams. Origin: England, ca. 1890. Condition: very good, one stopper has a flake on the bottom edge, light wear to plating, and some pitting on the cap of the salt shaker. Size: bottles & shakers, 5-7/8” tall; mustard, 4-1/4”. |
