A fabulous Retro Art Moderne ring worked in 18K yellow gold and set with a round cabochon-cut emerald flanked by a pair of round old European cut diamonds. The setting is a stunning display of the streamlined, chunky look that evolved from the earlier Art Deco styles. Three intersecting gold cones rise from the base of the ring, their points flattened and set with the gemstones. The emerald is of extraordinarily fine color and has very an excellent "jardin" (the network of tiny inclusions that are particularly characteristic of emeralds). Likewise, the diamonds have excellent color and clarity, estimated at I, SI1. The outlines of the outer cones (those set with diamonds) continue completely around the shank, creating a decorative ridged shank. Stamped with French hallmarks for 18K gold. Origin: France, ca. 1948. Condition: excellent, all original. Finger Size: 5-3/4. Size: crown, 7/16" wide, 3/4" long, 7/16" high; shank 7/32" wide. Weight: 12.0 grams.
