A handsome set of cufflinks and three shirt studs worked in 14K yellow gold with onyx and seed pearls. The square faces are bordered with gold edges decorated in a classical bound reed design. The onyx plaques are carved with concave centers to accommodate the post-set pearls. This shape also helps reflect the color of the pearls in the luster of the onyx. The backs of the cufflinks are a traditional barbell design. The backs are marked “14KP” (plumb gold—a slightly higher standard than normal 14K gold) and also have an unidentified goldsmith’s mark. Origin: America, ca. 1980. Condition: excellent, all original. Size: cufflinks, 19/32” x 19/32”; studs, 15/32” x 15/32”. Weight: 18.0 grams. |
