The brush work is impressionist/pointalist and quite lovely. Godwin is known as a painter, illustrator, etcher, muralist and cartoonist who studied with Flagg. Frank Nuderscher, St Louis, Missouri. early 20th C. This lovely park scene is oil on board, signed clearly verso. It is 14" by 24" in a 3" period frame with overall dimensions of 20" by 30". The painting is in good condition with no restoration. A native Saint Louis artist, he is known for his paintings of the Ozark Landscape and industrial city scaene of St Louis. He was mostly self taught and the last survivir of the river Front Art colony and had a studio in the Granite Building at 4th and Market. In 1936, he supervised the WPA projects and was a member of the National Assciation of Mural painters and the St Louis Art Guild where he earned 10 first prizes. He was the president of the Independant Artists of St Louis. He is listed in Davenport and Who was Who in american Art and sells for up to $10,000
