| Andre Derain, French, born 1880 in Chatou and died 1954 in Garches (Hauts-de-Seine. This jewel-like painting is oil on canvas board 20 3/10cm H by 25 5/10cm W (8"H by 10"W)and is signed lower right A Derain. It is in a beautiful 19th/early 20th C gold leaf frame with dimensions of 15 6/8"H by 17 6/8"W. He studied with a student of Cezanne and was friends with Vlaminck and most of the French Impressionists such as Matisse. He showed hi paintings at many important places and received good reviews of his work in his lifetime. His paintings have sold for in excess of $16 Million USD and small painting of this size sell for up to 516,000 USD. | ||
