| Charles Franklin Pierce, Mass / American, 1844-1920, Sheep in Normandy Village, oil on wood panel, 8 1/2" by 11", in perfect condition in gorgeous period frame, signed lower left with date 1862. a small masterpiece. Pierce was known for his landscapes and paintings with animals. The detail in the painting is marvelous with attention to tiny details like small plant life. Pierce studied extensively in France and this was probably painted there. He is listed in Mallet, Whos and Fieldings and his painting are highly sought after for the excellence of his style.
