We are very proud to offer a very beautiful piece of 19 C. Chinese furniture that we have owned for over 40 years. It is a large display cabinet carved with Chinese symbols and swirling dragons everywhere. The fabulous cabinet is 7 feet 10 inches high & 64 inches wide & 24 inches deep. The dragons have “four” toes, which indicates Chinese Royalty. The glass was hand-blown & shows ripples (wavy glass). The glass would date it to 1880 or earlier. The carving is just amazingly well done...

We are very proud to offer a fantastic chair, although chair is a misnomer, as it is really a Throne Chair made for an Emperor of Japan during the short-lived Meiji Period 1868-1912. This important magnificent Throne Chair looks red in color & might well be rose-wood or red mulberry, but I do not know for certain. The Throne is 70 inches high x 28 inches across arms. My darling husband of 41 years Dr. Curry (retired) is standing next to it, & he is just under 6 feet tall...

We are very proud to offer an Antique, heavily carved, Japanese Meiji (1868-1912) ladies dressing table & a true matching chair. The Japanese culture has a long history of fabulous wood carving. However, "carved" furniture itself was never produced in Japan until about 1865-1868. This change was a consequence of Westernization. It really began after European tourists asked for furniture that was Japanese-looking but with a European function...

We are very proud to offer a dazzling example of a superior Chinese ornamental design: The Chinese Ivory Puzzle Ball. It should be called the “Ball of Patience”, as they took a very long time to make by hand. Our example, circa 1860, is 13.25 inches tall, circumference is 9.5 inches, & diameter is 3 inches on carved ball. The ball contains 10 or 11 inner balls. The outer-most pierced ball is a Dragon among clouds. The inner balls are VERY ornately carved into reticulated mesh-like designs. E...

We are very proud to offer a very unusual pair of Chinese Wall Plaques. Each plaque shows peaceful scenes of village life with people, houses, buildings, temples, rivers, boats, birds, bats, & sky. They have marquetry inlays of hardwood & ivory. When you think of Marquetry what comes to mind is French or Hindu-Indo inlays. Chinese inlay work is much more rare. We have not seen any other Chinese Marquetry wall plaques in over 41 years of collecting antiques. If Chinese Marquetry is found, it is o...
