We are very proud to offer an original oil on masonite by the very famous Haitian artist Jacques-Richard Chery. Our oil painting is 12 inches x 16 inches & it is signed lr. The subject is a bowl of fruits & KITTENS! It is quite comical. The painting is dated on back 9-89-5 (Sept. 5, 1989). It is 24 years old, but it looks like it was just painted! It is so cute! It is in original & excellent condition. It is in his typical shadow-box plain frame. Jacques- Richard Chery was born in Cap Haitian (north Haiti) on Feb. 2, 1928. He always loved to paint. He painted while doing his regular job of being a barber. Later he opened a gas station in the Artibonite Valley where he exhibited his paintings. In 1951 Philome Obin advised him to move to Port-A-Prince, which he did. He entered several international exhibitions & was given rave reviews! In 1965 he entered the Galerie Issa where he exhibited his art for a few years. He has been published in many Art books & magazines ie: Vogue, Time. He is an important world famous painter. He has held exhibitions in London, New York, Paris, Berlin, etc. Although he is 83 years old, he still is painting. Our example is the subject for which he is famous : colorful & humorous & playful. Wonder how he got those kittens to stay in bowl? Ha! (Paypal only.) Shipping/h/insurance will be $25.xx.
