Fantastic Italian Pointe De Venise Tablecloth
We are very proud to offer one of the finest examples of Ecru Linen Pointe de Venise ever made. Our tablecloth measures 72 inches x 112 inches. It is a very elaborate , beautiful buttonhole hand-stitched needlepoint lace. This lace was sewn onto paper & then paper was removed. It is very tedious & time consuming to make. It would have taken hundreds of hours, if not several years, to complete. This tablecloth has many designs & many extra fancy stitches. There are cloths of Pointe de Venise that do not entail all the extra work & designs that this one has. Pointe de Venise is one of the most difficult & labor intensive lace tablecloths ever made. There-fore that is why they are rare & collectible & expensive. If & when they are made now-a-days they would cost $10,000.xx-$15,000.xx This cloth would date to late 1800’s when entertaining was done on a Grand scale. Yet today many people have at least one big dinner party a year. So here is an opportunity to set your finest dishes upon one of this worlds finest tablecloths. It really does look fantastic on a big table. I loved using it when I was young & could prepare big feasts! There was a time in the 1950’s in New York City when these sold for $1,500- $1,800. for every 3 feet in length. This cost would have been $6,000.xx to $7,500, which is in neighborhood of what I paid for it 40 years ago. This has always been one of my most prized possessions. We lived in a 25 room Mansion near San Francisco for 20 years, & I loved to have dinner parties. This table cloth just feels fabulous in your hands. I looks so delicate but it is very strong. It weighs 3 pounds! There are no breaks or tears. There are light small stains here & there but not too noticeable. You can just put a serving dish over stain! (Because of "stains" I put it on SALE.) I never had it cleaned because I was afraid they would make it "limp". It is too beautiful for words! It is hard just to go out & find one of these when you need one. Most people have never even seen one. Only reason for return would be authenticity, since it is so reduced in price. Paypal only. I ship UPS only. UPS charges $2.xx for each hundred insured, so it is $30.xx for insurance + shipping.
