Very unusual and playful bronze koro or incense burner from the lat Taisho Period C.1925. In the form of a Shishi or mythical Fu-dog, this lost wax cast bronze is exceptional in its form and creative shape. Gorgeous Oribe ceramic kogo which held the incense used in the tea ceremony. Signed in the original kiri (paulownia) wood box by the master, Nagira Yasuhisa. He was born in 1934 and won the Japan Traditional Art Gold Prize. In 1990 he won the prestigeous Kanashige Toyo Gold Prize. He started the famous Juko-gama kiln in Shimane Prefecture. Lovely "Do-Chu" hand hammered copper tea ceremony "Chaire" for keeping the green tea powder and prized for its ability to maintain its pristine freshness. In the original signed kiri paulownia box, the chaire itself is signed on the bottom by "Gyokusen-do" one of the premier copper guilds in Japan in the early Showa Period, C.1930. The box characters read on top: DO CHU CHA ZU TSU (copper chaire) and inside the box and on the bottom of the actual chaire, the characters read: Gyokusen-do. Perfect condition.
