Very rare find! Signed original box designating this vase as a gift from the Empress Showa Period 16 (C.1942). Must have been a congratulatory gift as the beautiful turtles in relief on the front symbolize longevity and the kanji characters on the back in lovely cursive relief read "Ban Ban Zai" meaning 2 x 10,000 years of congratulations. The bronze is murashido which is achieved when the hot ly fired bronze is repeatedly dipped in hot oils to get the patinated finish. 11" tall by 9" in diameter. Ask for shipping quote.
