Lovely pair of Showa Period C.1935 ceramic tokkuri sake flasks with Daruma. Made in the famous kiln area of Kutani and signed. Daruma was the legendary monk who brought Zen to China and Japan from india. Very good condition. H:7"x 3". Shipping included.

Major sage in flowing robe adorned with wizard like Kutani Kiln colors and motifs. Signed on the bottom with the Kutani hanko, this sage is holding a scroll in one hand and a staff in the other. The glazes painted on are fabulous. Early Showa Period c.1930. Excellent condition. H:44cm x W:20cm

Fabulously elegant set of ten Kutani ceramic plates in dated box, c.1914. The motif on the plates are plum blossoms and plum branches shooting to the full moon. Just lovely signed Koyo flower vase from Kutani pottery area. A Showa Period c.1960 piece, the white camelias with trademark kutani blue/green glazes are framed by a diagonal black glaze. Stunning. In the original 'tomobako' paulownia wood box signed with the artists' name and the big characters read: 'Kabin' flower vase and the characters, 'Kutani yaki" meaning ceramic from Kutani. Gorgeous art deco Tamekichi Mitsui III signed Kutani plate. He received his artist's name Tamekichi III in 1961 from his teacher, and was soon afterward commissioned to create a plate for Edwin Reischhauer's visit in 1962. He was a favorite of the royal family who bought numerous pieces in 1976. Also from 1979-1988 Japanese Prime Ministers took his works abroad as gifts during state trips. He was a professor of art in Washington D.C. from 1997-2004 and had his own exhibition at the Smithsonian Museum in 2002. Perfect condition in a signed kiri wood box. $880.
