Very regal and rare blue-green Meiji Period C.1890 maru obi made of silk. The motif woven onto the silk are phoenix birds, chrysanthemum flowers and pines all auspicious symbols of happiness, royalty, and good luck. Excellent condition. Woven on both sides and 380cm long and 30cm wide. Can be cut for table runners.

Extremely rare set of Meiji Period c.1900 kimono stencil carver's hand made tools. Each tool has a specific mouth shape and size for the different patterns required of a stencil carver. One of the tools has the woman carver's name on it, Yoshino miki. These stencil tools are from Ise which was the stencil capital of old Japan. Each tool is roughly 6" long. Ask for shipping quote.

Rare set of 4 Meiji Period c.1900 yukata kimono stencils from Ise. Each piece is 2 laminated sheets of mulberry paper treated with a persimmons tanin and aged for 2 years by smoking for strength. The stencil carver then makes his or her own tools to carve out the desired patterns which are then applied with rice resist for the desired dying. Height of each of the 4 stencils is 14" and the width is 16". Ask for shipping quote.

Very charming two compartment bamboo tea ceremony utensil carrying basket, c.1915. Used for moon viewing and cherry blossom excursions where the tea ceremony was performed and the tea utensils could be fashionably carried. Beautiful weft diagonal weaves with lovely knot work on the handle. There is one shallow compartment on top and both top and bottom insides have silk cloth lining, albeit shredding a bit. Very rare murashido bronze flower vase with handles. Beautiful patina of a palate of colors achieved by coloring the hot bronze with straw smoke.
