Nagasaki Sansai is a unique pottery style and firing technique that was popular in Japan in Nagasaki in the early 1900`s. The industry was wiped out in the war and revived afterwards by Eguchi Hiroshi. He was born C.1922 and died C.1988. He rebuilt the Nagasaki Kiln and brought Nagasaki Sansai back to prosperity. The Showa Emperor bought a piece in Showa 40 (1966). Nagasaki Sansai uses three colors and each piece is fired 3 x. As they get older the colors soften and natural tiny firing cracks emerge.
