Very rare and unusual bronze duck water spout from Late Meiji or early Taisho Period, C.1920. Detail on the feathers helps us date the piece; very fine work here. Stylish and very art deco Showa Period C.1930 bronze hanging lamp. The top has undulating waves in the cast and is attached to the body by rings. The the top lip of the main body has holes at intervals and the main body has almost what looks like kanji japanese characters with rice paper covering. Important, rare bronze plated Meiji Period C.1885 'zeni-bako' money box that was kept before the shrine altar to accept offerings. Usually they are made of keyaki wood but this wood money box is covered in bronze with thick bronze nails. The front has a crest and two japanese characters in relief "HO" and "NO" meaning offerings from the heart. The back has a drawer at the bottom to remove the money. Large, thick bronze 'murashido' flower vase with patinated coloring and art deco look. 'Murashido' is a bronze finishing technique perfected in the Taisho Period c. 1912-1926 whereby hotly fired bronzes were dipped in a hot oil to achieve the spectacular coloring effects. Museum quality Edo Period C.1860 zen temple mizubachi. Lost wax cast with a great dragon spout in grand detail and spectacular shishi mythical lion ornament on the top of the lid. The diaper motif on the base is in raised relief and equally spectacular. The spigot on the dragon head is permanent so we are assuming that there was a constant water flow. Very slight indentation on one of the hanging jewels but so slight you can only see at the right angle. H:51cm x W: 43cm. Ask for shipping quote.

Great Taisho Period C.1920 'Koi' bronze carp swimming up the waterfall without the waterfall. Great patina. Actually holds water and is an ikebana flower vase for the tea ceremony. The carp represents courage and determination as it swims up the waterfall as depicted in many paintings and art works.
