The configuration is very unusual with the chrysanthemum middle section, the imperial royal family crest, sitting on a tripod legged base. Usually temple lantern come with a long stem. Exceptional early Showa Period c.1937 art deco bronze flower vase in the original signed paulownia box. The kanji on the box reads: Chudo Ume Moyo "bronze vase with plum petal motif. Also Kabin or "flower vase". On the inside is the signature of Tatsugo and his seal. The bronze has plum petals in raised relief and inside small crosses. Great Taisho Period C.1920 'Koi' bronze carp swimming up the waterfall without the waterfall. Great patina. Actually holds water and is an ikebana flower vase for the tea ceremony. The carp represents courage and determination as it swims up the waterfall as depicted in many paintings and art works.
