Fabulous bronze brazier in the chyrsanthemum motif with 16 petals representing the imperial family crest. Sitting on a keyaki japanese elm wood base, the the brazier would make a wonderful flower vase or dinner table centerpiece. Very good condition with minor wear and bronze blue discoloration. Quite exceptional murashi-do bronze hibachi in the original box signed and dated Taisho Period 11 April (c.1922). Heavy red bronze was used and when the bronze is red hot it is dipped in hot oil to achieve the mottled colorations of the metal. The piece is then smoked with rice straw for setting and more coloring. Would be stunning as a dinner table center piece with flowers. Excellent condition. Ask for shipping quote. Exciting lost-wax cast bronze altar set of candlestand, flower vase and incense burner. The prototype Meiji Period Buddhist altar troika made of red bronze is usually found before c.1900. The bronze candlestand has a crane standing on a mythical turtle back with a lotus flower leaf stem. The incense burner has mythical shishi lions adorning the top and sides in raised relief and buddhist cloud handles. Exceptional Taisho Period c.1925 bronze flower vase with a koi (carp) swimming up a waterfall symbolizing courage and determination. On the opposite side are the Japanese characters, 'Ken & To' in raised relief, meaning to persist and challenge. The vase is signed by Minobe and was most likely commissioned as a gift for someone facing a challenging journey or task. The upper kanji 'Ken' has a tiny light scratch in the upper left stroke as well as the area above it, but imperceptable to the camera and basically the eye. Ask for shipping quote. Late Taisho Period c.1920 bronze tea ceremony gong to call the participants to the tea ceremony. The gong has a dragon handle holding the bell suspended over a lotus leaf base with a bronze chain. Farther out on the dragon handle is a hole for another chain to hold a metal gong striker. We don't have the original metal striker but a iron striker is included. The sound is quite good. The gong itself has the goddess dakini in raised relief. The are some blue/green oxidization marks on the gong. Ask for shipping quote. H:35cm W:31cm

Absolutely fabulous bronze square-mouthed almost art deco flower vase in the original paulownia box, dated April, 1847. The kanji on the box reads: Koka 4 Nen Teimi Shigatsu, meaning 1847 in Edo Period in the 4th month (april) of the zodiac calendar. Hirota Gensho Motomu Nari meaning the piece was commissioned for a Mr. Hirota Gensho. On one side of the Kiri box is written: Sentoku Kabin, meaning it was a flower vase fired and colored with rice straw smoke. Also Kabin or "flower vase". On the inside is the signature of Tatsugo and his seal. The bronze has plum petals in raised relief and inside small crosses. Sensational 'Hakudo' white bronze (alloy of bronze and nickel) flower vase by the renown master Tadao Shoda. Shoda is from Sano City in Tochigi Prefecture which has a 1000 year history of being the home of the famous Tenmyo cast metal works. Most of the highest quality weapons of the Kamakura and Edo Periods came from these masters. Shoda won the Sano Renaissance Gold Prize. This elegant flower vase has textured sides sandwiched between smooth white bronze tapered sides.
