Excellent depiction of Ebisu, one of the seven lucky gods of Japan in bronze. Early Showa Period, C.1930, the detail and expression is fabulous. Written on his back is "Shin Chiku Oiwai" meaning this bronze sculpture was commissioned as a new house celebration gift. The names of the presenters are also written. Ebisu is holding a fish in one had and a bamboo fishing pole in the other. He is the patron of fisherman as well as the Shinto god of businessman. Shrines to him abound all over Japan. He stands on a bronze rock. Standing about 37cm and about 24cm wide. Ask for shipping quote.

Very rare Taisho Period, C.1910 bronze carp garden water spout. The detail on the bronze fish scales and the waves about the tail are exceptional. We have seen many a fake of late and this is the real deal. There is a tiny pipe from the bottom that opens through the mouth to allow a water flow. Ask for shipping quote. Condition excellent. Very unusual and rare bronze metal recluse hut featuring japanese architectual aesthetic. There is a lighting screw on the floor of the hut where we assume there was a light. Wonderfully weathered and wabi-sabi Late Meiji Period c.1910 bronze bell from a Shinto shrine. The bell usually hangs from the roof of the shrine entrance with a rope and you jiggle the bell to ring it and announce to the gods you have come to pray. Quite exceptional murashi-do bronze hibachi in the original box signed and dated Taisho Period 11 April (c.1922). Heavy red bronze was used and when the bronze is red hot it is dipped in hot oil to achieve the mottled colorations of the metal. The piece is then smoked with rice straw for setting and more coloring. Would be stunning as a dinner table center piece with flowers. Excellent condition. Ask for shipping quote. Exciting lost-wax cast bronze altar set of candlestand, flower vase and incense burner. The prototype Meiji Period Buddhist altar troika made of red bronze is usually found before c.1900. The bronze candlestand has a crane standing on a mythical turtle back with a lotus flower leaf stem.
