Very Unusual Antique Japanese Fisherman's Tackle Box
Fabulous and rare Showa Period c.1940 fisherman's tackle box full of hand painted wood lures with bronze hooks. The lures were used for squid and painted to mimic the colors of the squid. There are 31 hand-painted ones and 33 unpainted lures. They come in a handsome Japanese elm and cedar lacquered box with drawers and beautiful copper metal fittings. Exceptional mingei piece.
