Antique Japanese Bronze 'Sentoku'  Flower Vase C.1920
Truly exceptional 'Sentoku' bronze flower vase with original kiri paulownia wood box. Sentoku is an antique bronze firing technique used before the war employing mixed metals of bronze , copper and spelter fired with straw to create an elegant coloring effect. This vase has color and remarkable bronze craftsmanship. Two pagodas, a maple tree and two sailing ships in spectacular relief move in dreamlike state through undulating hills all performed in a metal composition. A thing to behold. One of the best bronze vases we have ever seen. On the cover of the box is written: Sentoku Kabin (flower vase). On the inside of the cover is : Rushodo tsukuri ( kiln where it was fired). The bottom of the base is signed "Hirokazu". Ask for shipping quote. H:27cm x 16cm
