| Late Taisho Period C.1920 half-moon bamboo flower basket for ikebana. Bamboo is 'susudake' which is bamboo that has a rich patina from years of hearth smoke in an old farmhouse. When the bamboo from the roof was changed, basket makers prized the susudake for their baskets. This basket has a fabulous 'midare' irregular plaiting with bamboo inserts. H: 38cm x W: 39cm.
