Antique Japanese Meiji Period c1910 Zelkova Hearth Hook

Beautifully carved late Meiji Period C. 1910 keyaki (zelkova) wood hearth hook used to stabalize a large iron pot over the 'irori' hearth fire in an old minka farm house. The rich patina comes from years of use and the shape is one of the most unusual we have seen. The undulating ridges give it a very art deco form. Excellent condition. H:18" x W: 13".
