Very striking and unusual brass buddhist temple `koro` incense burner from the early Showa period, C.1935. Heavy brass handles and a pewter mon or crest of a paulownia leaf on the front. Tripod legs of mythical buddhist elephants. The paulownia crest was the crest of Hideyoshi the second shogun so most likely a temple related to that lineage. Signed on the back by Fukushima Tokuzo who had this made and donated to a temple to honor his ancestors. 18" tall x 17" wide. Ask for shipping quote from california warehouse.
