Antique Japanese Turtle-Crane Iron Tea Kettle c.1910

From the famous 'Nambu' tetsubin ironworks guild in Northern Japan, this exquisite antique Japanese tetsubin has hexigonal turtle shells, each with a crane's head inside. Very rare. The turtle-crane motifs are the traditional symbols of longevity and happiness. Used in the Urasenke Tea School. c.1910. (8¼ x 9¾", base to rim 5") (20cm x 24cm, base to rim 13cm).
