| Edo Period c.1850 antique Japanese zen temple bell from Kyushu in the south of Japan. Written on the bell is the temple name, Hijikan-In, a buddhist temple in Chikugo, Yanagawa-Han, Kawaharauchi village, Kyushu. Yanagawa Han was an Edo Period samurai fief but is now called Fukuoaka in modern Japan. Thick Edo bronze and fabulous reverberating sound. c.1850. (15" x 12") (38cm x 30cm).
