| Signed Meiji 22 this 'suiban' is produced by using old ship wood and then creating a honeycomb effect. The outside of the original box has the characters 'funamushi hirokuchi soguro kaki' meaning 'black lacquered flower vessel'. The inside of the lid has the date, Meiji 22, the artist's name, Morikoan and that it is made for a Mr. Morikawa. (1889). (16" x 12") (41cm x 30cm).
