| In the original box from the turn of the century, c.1900, this elegant antique Japanese black lacquered sweets box has the Myriad Treasures associated with seven gods of good luck in raised gold maki-e on the lid. Among the treasures which are said to ensure prosperity, long life and general good fortune are: coral, rhinoceros horns, the hat and raincoat of invisibility, the purse of inexhaustible riches, the wish granting gem, scrolls and fans etc. On the box is written 'fukurokuju maki-e' the style of raised gold maki-e lacquering and 'shihogata ohira' the style of square sweets box.
