| The poem on this painting reads, "The trees all point to the heavens, and the mountains and the deep valley are the color of infinity" by Hwang Jeong Ha aka U Cheong (1887-1952). He was famous for his tiger paintings, which are quite expensive at auction. Hwang employs a unique use of lines to give the mountains a sense of motion. They seem to actually be heaving upward in their reach for the heavens. The contrast of the completely still, meditative stance of the lone traveler gives greater emphasis to the surging movement of the mountains. Ink and light colors on paper, in a beautiful rosewood frame. Frame: 40.75 x 16.75 inches, 103.5 x 42.5 cm; Painting: 36.25 x 12.25 inches, 92 x 31 cm. | ||
