Iridescent 19th Century Multi-Colored Enamel Korean Hair Pin in the form of a Lovely Dragonfly. The dragonfly is an ancient symbol of purity. Enamel was used in luxury items for the rich. Plumbic oxide, borax, and glass powder were melted at a high temperature to create the enamels used to decorate these fine pieces. This process also prevented rust and discoloration. Korean Antique Dwikkoji Hair Pins are a pioneering and underpriced area of collecting. Dwikkoji were used by Korean ladies specifically for the chignon hair buns that were popular during the Joseon Period. 5.5 inches, 14 cm.
