| It is quite uncommon to find a Chaek-jang (Korean Scholar's Book Chest) made of persimmon, as this was a wood usually reserved for the furniture of a woman's room. The original 19th Century scholar owner who long ago commissioned this one-of-a-kind piece must have been as bold and outgoing as the piece itself is, with its spectacular mirror-image persimmon wood panels and declarative ironwork, including designs of swallows and swallowtails. It is an all original and unrestored 19th Century piece. 28 x 43 x 17 inches, 71 x 109 x 43 cm. Excellent Condition. | ||
