Lg. Meiji Japanese Cloisonne Enamel w/ Peony Vase

This uniquely designed, long neck cloisonne vase was crafted in the later part of the 1800’s. In the early cloisonne works a clean and more pure white was very hard to achieve. The white background enamel of this piece is quite pure allowing the salmon, grey and black pattern work to show nicely. The artist gave this piece the nice addition of a detailed band of scrollwork separating the blue and white backgrounds of the body and neck. The condition of this piece is very nice with no cracks, no enamel loss, No restoration. There are two groupings of light stress lines on either side of the Peony blossom shown in the last two pictures. The piece stands 12 inches tall. Unsigned. c. 1900
