| This large Japanese Satsuma vase stands 12.25 in. by 6.75 in wide. The piece has a front panel depicting a multitude of women and children both in an indoor setting and naturalistic setting of a river and mountains. The back panel is that of a group of holy men in a naturalistic setting surrounding a figure of Kannon w/small child. Another rendition of Kannon is done floating above the mountains. The craftsmanship of this piece is quite good both in the details of the figures and landscape. The vase has elephant handles and a heavy but tasteful amount of gold. Rather then the more common smooth bodied vase, this piece is done in the melon form which gives it a nice sense of depth. The vase is signed both with the gold characters on black background and also an impressed seal. The piece is excellent condition with next to no wear to the gold, no cracks, hairlines, and NO Restoration. c.1910. On all of my pieces I offer a full refund and in most cases will pay for return shipping for domestic orders. | |||||||||||
