Graceful modernist blown glass hourglass in olive green glass by Venini, circa 1950s. The piece is made of a single piece of glass, and is extremely well balanced. I have been unable to find a signature, but both the design and execution are very well documented. The piece has an indented polished pontil and flat polished rim on one side, and a permanent cork stopper surrounded by a flat polished rim on the other...

It is a vivid baby blue in color, with hints of green, surrounding the blue, and cased in clear glass. This is a rare early 1950s piece from the top glassworks in Italy. The decanter has a correct three line Venini acid mark on the base. This form is shown in the catalogs and literature...

Signature design by Toni Zuccheri for Venini, circa 1960s. With copper strands embedded into vivid orange glass, which is cased in a thick layer of clear. There is an extremely faint three line acid stamp signature reading "Venini, Murano, Italia" on the base. To the best of my knowledge, no company besides Venini did this difficult technique. The bowl measures 6.25" x 2.5" and is in excellent vintage condition....

An unusually dramatic and large example of one of Dino Martens' signature designs: black/white half filigree called 'Bianca Nera,' which was developed in 1954 for Aureliano Toso. This balloon shaped vase is made of white and black half-filigree, both colours separated by a single line of sparkling gold aventurine (gold dust).

The large girth of this example really increases the impact of the design. Martens, who designed for Aureliano Toso, is considered one of the most important fig...

A monumental Cenedese woven glass basket designed by Napoleone Martinuzzi in 1957. This large oval shaped vessel, in pale olive green glass, has an outer surface applied with thick coils of hot woven glass. The surface has a heavy iridescent texture which reflects strong shades of purples, golds and greens.

This enormous showpiece measures roughly 15" in diameter and 6" tall. It is extremely heavy and substantial. This basket was offered in the 1998 Sotheby's catalogue "Important 20t...

A very rare example of Allessandro Pianon's "pulcini" series for Vistosi, which is certainly one of the most whimsical and fantastic interpretations of 20th Century glass. This lovely teal-green bird has a smooth texture, a pulled beak, and black, white, red and clear murrine eyes. I have seen this shape several times in orange, but never in green.

The statue stands on removable original Vistosi brass feet. It stands almost 8.5" tall and is in excellent condition. One of the murrine ey...

Extremely rare matched vase and bowl by noted designer Anzolo Fuga for AVEM, circa 1950s. These oversized avant-garde modernist pieces are almost identical to the ones shown on p. 77 of the book "Anzolo Fuga: Murano Glass Artist" by Rosa Barovier Mentasti and Evan Lobel.

Page 76 of the book reads: "The plates and vases of the series conventionally known as "the bands" were made in many variations. Stripes were applied horizontally or vertically on the vases, and in spirals on the pla...

Dino Martens, artistic director for Aureliano Toso, was one of the most important figures in Mid-20th Century Murano glass, and the 'oriente' series is his most celebrated design. They are considered an icon of Italian glass, and grace the covers of several Italian art glass books. When one of these rare pieces shows up, they tend to be the highlight of auctions.

This model is known as 'olaf.' It is spectacularly large, and still bears it's original paper label with corresponding mode...
