We are proud to offer this exciting vase by contemporary Australian glass artist Giles Bettison. The piece features complex murrines and glass windows, including a signature cane reading "Giles" measuring almost 1" tall. The vase measures over 13", and is in excellent condition. It is also signed and dated on the base (illegible).
"Born in South Australia, Giles Bettison is a graduate of the Canberra School of Art program. He has studied at Pilchuck and Corning and completed a residency at Bullseye Glass in 1998. His work is exhibited regularly in Australia, the U.S and Switzerland. Bettison’s beautiful surfaces are a result of a unique approach to the traditional Venetian method of murrine glass. Drawing inspiration from Australian Aboriginal paintings and influenced by modernist artists such as Piet Mondrian and Josef Albers, Bettison’s blown vessels and fused murrine suggest textures and patterns of textiles, his rich and unusual combinations of colour are derived from observations and memories of the natural landscape."
