Italian born Michele Burato began his career as a glass historian, and began experimenting with fusing glass in 1990. By 1998, he had his first exhibition in Venice. Burato incorporates the traditional Venetian techniques of murrine and mosaic, for entirely unconventional results. He is known worldwide for his bold and original color combinations in painterly patterns.
This colorful example of Burato's work measures almost 15" long and stands just 1.75" tall. It contains an exciting blend of blues, reds, purples, oranges, and white. The surface has been hand textured in the classic Muranese "batutto" technique. The piece is fully signed on the base "Michele Burato 2000 P.V." In excellent condition with some small popped air bubbles from the making. Domestic US shipping/handling/insurance for this item will be $20.
