A pair of oil on card paintings, each signed lower left, by C. Ph. Weber. The first is of a church and churchyard behind a rock wall. The second depicts fishing along the Delaware river. Typical of the artist's work is the fine use of light and color, rendering an almost impressionistic feel.

Condition of the paintings is very good, with no damage or restoration. There are some scattered minor areas of surface dirt on the fishing scene, which could easily be cleaned without harming the painting. The sight size of each of the paintings is 8 3/4" by 4 3/4", with a framed size of 13" by 9".

NOTE: 1. Carl Philipp Weber, the son of Carl Weber, a musician and music teacher. was born in 1849 and died in Philadelphia on December 12, 1922. He was highly thought of, and well-known for pastoral landscapes and coastal scenes. 2. Because of the similarity of the signatures, Carl Philipp Weber's works were often confused by auction houses with those of his cousin, Carl Weber, but are considerably less common.
