This is a rare pattern cup and saucer done by one of the Newhall contemporary factories, definitely not Factory X, but probably Factory Y. It depicts Chinese figures in a landscape, and is referred to as the "Executioner" or "Top Hat" pattern. Colors are pinks, greens, blues, peach, black and iron red. The cup is 2" tall by 3 3/8" and the saucer is 5 1/4" in diameter. The footrims are unglazed, and there is slight browning or kiln spitting on the underneath of the pieces, as you would expect from these factories. A wonderful opportunity to acquire an example from a highly collected factory, in a very uncommon pattern, in superb condition. |
