An extremely fine example of a English, lead glass, multi-spiral air twist (MSAT) wine glass with a pointed round funnel bowl. The stem has an inverted baluster shoulder knop and an angular medial knop. The conical foot with rough snapped pontil. Although single knopped air twists are not uncommon, the rarity of glasses goes up substantially with each additional knop on the stem. Perfectly proportioned, with a strong twist, and in superb condition with no chips, cracks, scratches, or restoration. 6" tall, 2 1/8" bowl diameter, 3" foot diameter See plate 477 in "Eighteenth Century English Drinking Glasses," 1986, 2nd revised edition, by L.M. Bickerton, for an example of identical form. |
