A large and stunning Dutch engraved German goblet, probably from Hesse, a state in west central Germany, whose largest city is Frankfort. The capacious ribbed bowl is engraved with a scene of a Dutch burger, smoking a long clay pipe, standing on a cargo pier with two ships in the background. The ribbed stem is hollow, and has 6 applied strawberry prunts. Conical folded foot. Perfect condition. 7 3/8 inches tall, with a bowl diameter of 2 7/8 inches and a foot diameter of 3 1/2 inches. |
